Ymultimedia is a proud member of the Performance Marketing Association (PMA), American Marketing Association (AMA), and Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB). Through these memberships, Ymultimedia is able to leverage the power of each organization’s reach in the industry. Enabling power through knowledge, our partnerships provide us insight into everything from comprehensive data and research to legislation and regulation.

Performance Marketing Association:
The PMA is the first formal organization representing the burgeoning performance marketing space and offering members a means to learn, share or communicate on a global scale. The collective knowledge of the community is shared and best practices are outlined, thereby providing performance marketers with the tools, information and support they need to grow their businesses.
In addition, the PMA gives performance marketers a unified voice to address issues and challenges facing the industry, such as the “advertising tax” proposed in some states. The PMA investigates these issues, maintains close contact with members, advertisers, legislators and news organizations to inform and educate and provide resource materials. The association also coordinates advocacy efforts, speaking on behalf of the industry – allowing its members to be heard while still focusing on their respective businesses.
With the PMA leading the charge, businesses will continue to grow and succeed, the quality of work will be demonstrated, and further quality participation in the performance marketing field encouraged.

American Marketing Association:
The American Marketing Association (AMA) is the largest marketing association in North America. It is a professional association for individuals and organizations involved in the practice, teaching and study of marketing worldwide. It is also the source that marketers turn to every day for information/resources, education/training and professional networking. AMA members are connected to a network of experienced marketers over 30,000 strong and include leading marketing academics, researchers and practitioners from every industry.
AMA offers highly acclaimed seminars, workshops and Hot Topic events focused on the immediate needs of marketers, as well as trends shaping the future. AMA’s website, MarketingPower.com, is the everyday connection to marketing data, articles, case studies, best practices and a robust job bank. The AMA also is the source for the field’s top magazines and journals, including Marketing News. AMA professional and collegiate chapters and special interest groups keep members in touch with the best people and the best practices.

Interactive Advertising Bureau:
Founded in 1996, The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) is comprised of more than 375 leading media and technology companies who are responsible for selling 86% of online advertising in the United States. On behalf of its members, the IAB is dedicated to the growth of the interactive advertising marketplace, of interactive’s share of total marketing spend, and of its members’ share of total marketing spend. The IAB educates marketers, agencies, media companies and the wider business community about the value of interactive advertising. Working with its member companies, the IAB evaluates and recommends standards and practices and fields critical research on interactive advertising.

At Ymultimedia, our goals are to stay ahead of the industry through our leveraged partnerships. In doing this, we are able to pass through real-time insight, direction, and up-to-date strategies and tactics to our partners and customers. Ymultimedia plans to grow our industry reach by continuing to partner up with the top industry organizations.

It’s just around the corner and we are geared up and ready to hit Vegas up for Affiliate Summit West 2010. Starting on January 17th at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, the exhibit hall is going to be packed with affiliate merchants, vendors, and networks. We hope that you already bought your tickets because due to capacity, the summit is already SOLD OUT!!! Yes folks already SOLD OUT!!

For those who haven’t had the opportunity to experience ASW or don’t know what ASW is, it really is a great place for affiliates to meet with and network within the industry, learn from industry professionals, as well as a great place get to know your Affiliate Managers. “Affiliate Summit was founded by Missy Ward and Shawn Collins in 2003 for the purpose of providing educational sessions on the latest industry issues and fostering a productive networking environment for affiliate marketers”. The background on the ASW is pretty interesting. To read more check out Affiliate Summit West.

We want to meet each and every one of you so please feel free to reach out to us while you are there. We can set up a time to met, whether it is dinner or drinks. Please make sure to email us or give us a call to set it up! Because there is so much to see we included a video from Shawn Collins that will help you network efficiently.

This years keynote speakers are some guys we are excited to see. Dr. Robert Cialdini, an expert in the fields of persuasion, compliance, and negotiation, and the author of Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion. And Brian Clark, a ten year-veteran of Internet publishing and marketing.

Time is ticking and as time gets closer usually prices for flights and hotel rooms go up. So book now if you haven’t already.

If you do not have your ticket and want to attend, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to check the registration for cancelations and availability. If you’re able to enter your registration — you’re good to go.

Don’t worry you will probably suffer from information overload if you attend sessions all 3 days, which could be a good thing, you’ll get access to the recordings after the show.

If you really can’t make it out to Vegas you can always reserve your tickets for Affiliate Summit East 2010 taking place August 15-17, 2010 in New York City. They will be returning to the Hilton New York.

Social media this year has turned its tide to a more personal approach. With Twitter being the talk of ’09 we will speak of how this social platform has formed the way we communicate and possibly how we will do business in the future.

Most of us involve ourselves in Social Communities. We use them to keep up with those who live far or just to catch up with people from your past, which at times are not always a good thing.

However, Twitter is becoming the front-runner for instant commentary. Whether it is a personal encounter, a celebrity tweet, or a worldwide news story, everyone soon enough will know about it.

Twitter is not only the vehicle for moving that information, but this year is also assisting corporate giants in tracking sales and data.

This week I was reading several articles about on-line trends that emerged from 2009. I stumbled upon a great article at The Social Media center on mediapost.com.

David Berkowitz: a writer for Social Media Insider lists 10 ways that could defiantly shape how we perceive and utilize the information highway in the future.

Democracy: The Green Revolution, Iran’s populist attempt to reject the summer’s election results, was a global eye-opener for how a tool like Twitter — so easily dismissed as frivolous — could change the world. The result may have been underwhelming, with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad maintaining power — but for those who saw the tweets from Iranians, often retweeted wildly, it will leave its mark. Contrast this with other movements, such as when Philippines voters used text messages to mobilize and oust President Joseph Estrada in 2001. The Philippines revolution followed a peer-to-peer model. In Iran, though, the tweets were largely public, and instant commentary on those tweets was publicized further, shattering the barriers between those who were taking part and the spectators hanging on every character.

Death: We now mourn in public. Michael Jackson inspired millions — billions? — to grieve openly. Myself, I stayed silent on Jackson but had to express public disbelief over Billy Mays’ passing. As I write this, friends and strangers are opening up about Brittany Murphy. The self-expression becomes more problematic when it gets personal, as a Floridian mom learned when she tweeted about her son drowning. This led to the headline “Twitter played no role in drowning of military_mom’s son Bryson.” We don’t yet know how to grieve publicly, and many such as military mom will learn that others aren’t ready for it. But in time, perhaps even by this time next year, stories like this won’t be newsworthy.

Sales: Dell has tracked over $6.5 million in revenue to twitter. There are several morals to the story: 1) It’s possible to track sales from Twitter. 2) It’s still in its infancy; Dell earned $61 billion last year, so its Twitter sales will barely cover the Post-it notes used at the 75,000+ employee company. 3) Those are only the direct sales, and every time the press reports on Dell’s model, some consumers will go to Dell’s outlet site without bothering to check what’s happening on Twitter. Bottom line, though, social media is making an impact on sales, and this year we finally started to measure that effect in earnest.

Searching: Google, Yahoo, and Bing committed to giving real-time search valuable real estate in their results pages. Sometimes it will be higher up and sometimes further down, and it will surely be much bigger than Twitter, but now it’s here. Most people aren’t going to think to search Twitter or Facebook or Foursquare, but they will visit Google or Yahoo or Bing, and they’ll access the real-time links if they’re relevant. We’re still learning when it’s relevant, but there’s little doubt now that it matters.

Local Marketing: So, how did you find out about that restaurant? Did you see a special for mayors on Foursquare? Did a friend check in via Gowalla and share it as their Facebook status? Were you walking down the street with your iPhone out while you augmented reality with Yelp’s Monocle or Urbanspoon’s Scope? Okay, augmented reality may be more gimmicky, but the social services are starting to help people find each other — and help people find local hot spots. The fusion of mobile, social and local started to create real opportunities to change consumer behavior. What was true for early adopters in 2009 will apply to the fast followers in the year ahead.

Celebrity Access: In January, Ashton Kutcher joined Twitter. He was followed by Ellen DeGeneres in March and Oprah in April. We got to see what they saw, from Chris Brown’s view of 90,000 fans in Manila to Chad Ochocinco’s view of his opponents’ football field. Vin Diesel posts a couple of times a month on his Facebook page, where he has over 7 million fans. And after Kanye West started a new Internet meme by grabbing the microphone from Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards, he apologized on his blog. Yes, we have ghost tweeters and plenty of opacity, but now that fans have this direct, personal, and occasionally even unfiltered access, it’s not going away.

Fan participation: This summer, two amazing events happened in the arts world simultaneously. Here in the U.S., the rock band Of A Revolution (O.A.R.) crowd-sourced song lyrics on Twitter, crediting fans for their contributions to the song that became “Light Switch Sky.” Meanwhile, London’s Royal Opera crowd-sourced lyrics to an opera through Twitter. In the process, Twitter became a curation tool, and both curators here used other forms of digital media such as blogs and online video to further engage fans. Want to hook your fans? Give them a stake in the content.

Gift giving: Thought you were doing something special for a Facebook friend by giving them one of those little icons as a gift? How about giving them something they’d be really excited about, like an MP3, a charitable donation, or a “gourmet feast” gift basket? Yeah, that last one runs $85, but they are your friends, right? Today, those goods are provided through the Real Gifts application. Tomorrow, it may well be Amazon. What I’d really love to see is gift recommendations tailored to recipients’ profile interests right when you’re sending something virtual or physical.

News sourcing: Journalists were among the first to embrace Twitter. Will they similarly lead the charge with Google Wave? They’re starting to, anecdotally at least. Mashable loves covering these stories, from the Seattle Times posting a Wave to find a suspected cop killer to town squares hosted by the Austin American-Statesman. Google Wave itself may or may not be the platform of the future, but it’s opened the door to news ways for the media to interact with their audience.

Gaming: In November 2009, over 6 million gamers (and their loved ones) bought the blockbuster “Modern Warfare 2.” That same month, about 70 million gamers played “Farmville.” I know I’m stretching comparisons here, but the notion of what a blockbuster game is continues to shift. Is it a game that millions of people pay $50 for right when it comes out, or a free game played by tens of millions of people, where a small percentage pay small sums over time for in-game upgrades? There’s room for both models, and there’s room for new thinking on what a successful game is.

2009 is coming to an end and many people are preparing themselves for happy endings and new beginnings. The New Year also allows people to reflect, set new goals and begin planning for the future.

We too have found ourselves preparing our goals to be ready for what the New Year will bring us.

Because our company has grown over the last few months, yMultimedia! has found the need to expand our space. So we have found new diggs right up the street to where we are now. We can literally say, “we are moving on up to the east side”.

And of course we wouldn’t move out of San Diego county, come on now, I am wearing a short sleeve t-shirt 3 days before Christmas!!

It’s beautiful here.

The new office space is well known in the neighborhood for its art community that encompasses many different types of artists. The building carries a cool new vibe and new energy, with an architectural design that screams innovation. Right in line with who we are!!

However, we want to make sure that you know even though we are moving, we will still be available to you.
We will be reachable by the local and toll free numbers you currently have for us and of course we will be available via email.

So please feel free to contact us at anytime with any questions you may have.

From the yMultimedia! Family to you….
Have a safe and Happy Holiday!

I just wanted to send everyone a quick update about some new offers that we brought into the network. With the FTC breathing down everyones neck and the big G slapping peoples accounts because of the free trials and fake blogs we went out and brought some offers that are well known and are in big demand at this time of the year.

Beach Body Products

Beach Body products have a variety of different workout/ training videos. And we brought them all into our network today. P90x, ChaLEAN Extreme, INSANITY, TurboJam, Slimin6, Hip Hop Abs, Rockin Body, Power 90, 10-Minute Trainer and Timeless Secret. We have all seen the infomercails about P90x & INSANITY and the other products that they have. BeachBody spends more than 90 million a year in media and advertising and they are the industry fitness leaders with over 1 billion in sales, so the traffic is defiently out there and now we have that oppertunity to capitalize off BeachBody’s success and brand.

Acai Berry and Colon Cleanse products made alot of affiliates millions of dollars in 2009 and had little exposure to them compared to the exposure that BeachBody has.

This is a huge oppertunity for all of our affiliates at Ymultimedia so lets take advantage of this as soon as possible. I cant find another network out there that has this program at this time so we have a great jump on the rest of the industry.

P90X: P90x is a great workout video. Might be perfect to combine with a CPA offer that is for gaining muscles.

Recently released results of an investigative report into the “Aggressive Sales Tactics on the Internet and Their Impact on American Consumers”, has been a major hot point for Senator Rockefeller.

A hearing on the subject by the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation examines “controversial e-commerce business practices that have generated high volumes of consumer complaints”.

“After six months, this Committee has found that the companies we are investigating have figured out very clever ways to manipulate consumers’ buying habits so they can make a quick buck. American consumers have been complaining for years about these misleading practices and asking for answers – and rightly so. [...] Millions of Americans are getting hit with these mystery charges every month – we have to do all we can to protect the hard working families relying on us to look out for their wallets and well-being”.

According to the staff report, the sales tactics that Rockefeller is interested in taking down are the ones that “charge millions of American consumers for services the consumers do not want and do not understand they have purchased”, a controversial practice known as “post-transaction marketing”.

The report reveals that numerous, well-known e-commerce companies have earned millions of dollars through post-transaction marketing “scams”, including sellers such as 1800Flowers.com, Fandango, FTD, Orbitz, Priceline, Shutterfly, Buy.com, Barnes & Noble, Expedia, as well as many, many more.

KEY FINDINGS FROM THE INVESTIGATION:

* Three Internet companies–Affinion, Vertrue, and Webloyalty–exploit consumers’ expectations about online shopping to trick them into joining their membership clubs.

* Consumers often do not know these companies have their credit card numbers until they start seeing charges on their bank statements.

* Affinion, Vertrue, and Webloyalty and their e-commerce partners have earned over $1.4 billion in revenue with their misleading tactics.

* There have been more than 30 million consumer enrollments in these clubs and several million people are unknowingly enrolled in these clubs at any one time.

* More than 450 e-commerce websites and retailers have partnered with Affinion, Vertrue, and Webloyalty to employ aggressive sales tactics against their online customers splitting the revenue about 50-50.

* Eighty-eight companies have made more than $1 million by partnering with Affinion, Vertrue, and Webloyalty, including Classmates.com, which made more than $70 million.

* Almost no one receives the “cash back award” that Affinion, Vertrue, and Webloyalty offer to online consumers at the time of enrollment.

It’s evident that standard practices and methodologies are going to be replacing some of the more dubious tactics currently seen in today’s marketplace. To learn more:

Monday, November 30, 2009, was the much-anticipated round table discussions on technology and online privacy of consumers. The conference took place at the FTC Conference Center in Washington D.C. and consisted of researchers, executives from Google and Yahoo, as well as consumer advocates. This conference took an in-depth look at the challenges posed in the 21st century technology and business practices that collect and use consumer data.

Social networking, cloud computing, online behavioral advertising, mobile marketing, and the collection and use of information by retailers, data brokers, third-party applications, and other diverse businesses were the current focus of scrutiny throughout the conference by these key executives.

The key focus was to determine how best to protect consumer privacy while supporting beneficial uses of the information and technological advancements. They seemed most interested in tactical changes and their questions revolved around privacy policies and notices within ads that were behaviorally targeted. Some questions included how could they get consumers to understand and use these notices, and how could privacy policies be standardized and understood?

These issues will continue to be of concern until the FTC feels that consumers are protected and aware of the ever changing promotional advertising tactics used to benefit both advertiser and consumer. It is in our best interest to be aware of the changes and learn to incorporate them into our everyday business practices. To learn more:
